Data Governance Analyst

Drives Logic is helping our growing client add an Data Governance and Policy Analysts to support government executives’ strategic data initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience working with executives and senior leaders to improve Data Management culture, systems, and practices. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience with DMMA DMBOK, CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration framework, or a derivative such as the Patient Demographic Data Quality (PDDQ) Framework.

Essential Duties

Working as part of an integrated team, the Data Governance and Policy Analyst will participate in engagements that assess current governance approach, including structure, policy, and management systems, then help agency teams implement data strategy approaches that improve maturity and yield better results. Specific activities include:

  • Working individually and/or collaboratively to analyze data management issues and provide quantitative and qualitative insights using Data Management Maturity models.
  • Bringing and exchanging ideas with team members regarding analysis and problem-solving methods for specific client situations.
  • Working as a part of a team supporting or conducting specific tasks such as leading interviews, conducting surveys, analyzing policy and plans, and facilitating focus groups and governance bodies.
  • Supporting or leading facilitated workshops with key stakeholders to validate, expand, and reach consensus on strengths, weaknesses, risks, and opportunities, which may include defining target state objectives and key results (OKRs).
  • Analyzing performance gaps between current and desired states.
  • Documenting and delivering findings and recommendations in oral and written presentation formats.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certification or Master’s Degree in data and analytics, business administration, systems analysis, public administration/policy, information technology or a related field
  • Prefer experience working on Federal agency data strategy or transformation initiatives for a consulting organization, government agency, and/or a government contractor.
  • Ideal candidate has CDMP or similar data management certification.


Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in data analytics and social sciences, business administration, systems analysis, public administration/policy, information technology or a related field.
  • Experience with the Federal Data Strategy and relevant governance approaches, including reviewing policy, directives, standards, processes, RACI matrices (identifying organizations that are responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed), and implementation.
  • Experience analyzing status and developing recommendations to improve accountability, quality, and adherence to data policies, standards, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrated successful history of participation in team environments comprising a variety of skills and knowledge in a rapidly evolving or strategic initiative setting.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills, with the ability to distill complex information into compelling messages.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, with emphasis on Data Governance, Metadata Management, Business Intelligence, or Data Analysis.
  • Intuitive, collaborative team player with balanced analytical and creative thinking skills.
  • Strong oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with clients with limited supervision.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. for any employer as sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Preference will be given to qualified Veteran candidates.
